The Saber Foundation is a non-profit organization established to develop leaders and improve higher education and opportunities for Hispanic/Latino students. This is a full tuition scholarship to a public post-secondary school in Idaho with a maximum limit of $5000.00 per year. The award is in recognition of academic and vocational achievement, demonstrated leadership in school, community or other service activities.
Applicants must be accepted and enrolling or enrolled in a school of post-secondary education in Idaho to be eligible.
Application Deadline: Completed scholarship application packets must be received by April 1, 2010.

Eligibility: • Submit a complete application packet by April 1st, 2010. • Must be in good standing and making satisfactory progress (as formally defined by the institution) toward the student’s program objective (degree, diploma, or certificate). • Must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5 and above. • Be a high school student in Idaho and/or be attending an institution (university, college, vocational/technical or other) in Idaho. • Have demonstrated leadership in school, community and/or other service organizations that promote, enhance or strengthen diversity. • Live in Idaho and of Hispanic/Latino descent
Additional Application Materials: • A completed and signed Saber Foundation Scholarship Application. • Write a double-spaced, 12-point essay on one of three topics below. Be sure to include any pertinent information you may want to convey to us regarding your personal family background and history; academic, leadership and community service experience; your plan of study and future goals; and the financial obstacles that you feel are impacting your ability to pursue a post-high school education. • Prepare the essay on One of the three following: a) Describe how you feel a college education will help you make a difference in the Latino community. b) Define your concept of leadership and describe a person in your life (other than a family member) that demonstrates those qualities. c) Identify one significant challenge facing Latinos and recommend strategies to address the challenge. • A copy of applicant’s high school or college transcript • A “brag” list or resume of scholarly or vocational accomplishments, honors, special awards or recognition you have received, community and school involvement to include leadership positions and/or activities. • Two letters of recommendation. At least one letter from an individual qualified to judge your academic, leadership, and personal qualifications. Counselor or teacher is recommended.
Note: Finalists will be required to conduct an interview with the scholarship selection committee.
Renewable: Applicants are eligible for multi-year funding but must resubmit their application annually for awards.
